Every resident and tourist participates in the management of the wetland nature territory with their presence – consciously or unconsciously. Our common goal is to preserve the natural diversity of the Latvian – Lithuanian wetlands, reduce pollution, and help restore the natural balance and important species.

The municipalities of Daugavpils and Zarasai created this wetland management platform to serve as an example of how the joint work of society and municipalities promotes the successful joint maintenance of the biological environment and recreation areas.

Everyone has a role in this territory management process: the municipality carries out improvements and maintains the infrastructure; scientists study special species and habitats; nature protection specialists ensure the preservation of natural species; residents and tourists responsibly enjoy nature, observe it, and report interesting events, take care of order, and inform the municipality if anything is damaged or untidy.
